G322 Tommy Jessop Extract- Representation of Disability
In this blog post, i will be looking at Tommy Jessop extract and i will writing about disability is represented in the TV Drama.
Camera Shots, Angles and movements
Disability has been shown through Camera angles, this is shown at 1:44 the dad of the disabled character and the Detective have been made to look bigger as the character is looking up to them, this makes them look more powerful than the disabled character as the disabled are normally referred to as weaker. Also at 0:35- 0:45 disability has been referred to through movement, this is when the disabled character is attempting to run away but fails as he is slow, this represents disability because disabled people mature slower and the tend to react slower than the "normal people". Also The camera crew have used a Close-up shot at 3:56 to try show the disabled characters emotion showing that he is vulnerable.

Avatar (film)
Production
The production of Avatar began in 2006 when they built a script on what the aliens culture would be like to make them seem more realistic. However a Linguist was also called in to come create a language for the creatures of which he managed to produce one which had 1000 words taken from different cultures but changed. 40% of Avatar was filmed from live action and the other 60% computer generated which is why the film was filmed in 1996 when the idea came out as the technology back then wouldn't have allowed to make this idea successful. In preparation of the filming sequences, all of the actors underwent professional training specific to their characters such as archery, horseback riding, firearm use, and hand-to-hand combat. They received language and dialect training in the Na'vi language created for the film.
A number of innovative visual effects techniques were used in the production of Avatar. According to Cameron, work on the film had been delayed since the 1990s to allow the techniques to reach the necessary degree of advancement to adequately portray his vision of the film.

Hunger Games (film)
Hunger Games, is a film based on a novel which was written by author Suzanne Collins.
Production:
Hunger Games film consisted of 19 Actor's and Actresses, with only 6 of them being the main ones. However the main character in the spotlight during the film was called Katniss and in March 2011, lionsgate announced that 30 females had applied to play the role, which was later given to Jennifer Lawrence who won best actress and he sundance film festival and was also a nominee at the Oscars. Although Lawrence was 20 at the time of the selection process and the character Katniss had to be 16, the author of the book, Suzanne Collins, thought it was good to let an older female, as the character featured in the book had to be powerful and mature.
Hunger games was produced by Colour Force a production company founded by Nina Jacobson, a former president of Bueno Vista Motion Pictures Group. Due to the risks of hazard, caused by arrows, fast water, ivy poison and so on, the production company was forced into getting insurance with Fireman's Fund Insurance Company to make sure that they are covered if any injuries occurred, on either the crew, actors or general public. With an initial budget of $75 million, Principal photography began near Brevard in Transylvania County, North Carolina in Western North Carolina in May 2011 and concluded on September 15, 2011, with a final budget reported as between $90 and $100 million, reduced to $78 million after subsidies. Director Gary Ross was announced as the director of the film in 2010 and Steven Soderbergh served as a second unit director. For Jennifer Lawrence to match the character Katniss, she had to dye her hair brown and also go through some training for her to be able to play her role and some of the training included archery, rock & tree climbing, combats, running and yoga and all this was accomplished in the space of 6weeks. However it is believed that an Accident occurred during her training, in which she hit a wall while running, luckily enough, there were no serious injuries resulted.
Marketing:
The film made $155 million in the US and Canada Box offices which makes it the highest domestic opening for a movie that isn’t a sequel, and established what may become one of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster franchises. However the promotion of the film could be argued that it had already been made through the novel, as some people may prefer to watch moving images rather than to read a novel, and since the novel interested most people, it could have persuaded them to see the screen version of it to. Since the film target audience was of a young/teenage age, it made it easier for lions gate to introduce the film to the audience as they took their promo's to the TV channels that are common with them and they also used billboards etc. It is believed that lionsgate set themselves a $45million marketing budget, which they used to create games on Facebook, YouTube videos and a blog post on tumblr which was dedicated to the films fashion. It is believed that a social network game was released on Facebook which was called 'The Hunger Games Adventures' which was built in order to contribute to the promotion of the film.
Distribution
Hunger games film was distributed by lionsgate. The Film was released on march 21 in most European countries and March 23rd in United States of America.
Consumption
It is believed that the film made $61.1m in the US and Canada between Friday and Sunday, having made $152.5m in its first weekend. According to BBC some exit polls at cinemas suggested 13 percent of the films fans were seeing the film for the second time in the space of 5days which shows that the film is in high demand and must have impressed the audience.
